Try Out These Amusing Mistaken Identity Motion Pictures

An illogical but always amusing storyline for a movie is when the characters exchange lives with each other or make believe to be someone else, it always ends up being uproarious and the message is as a rule about bearing in mind the other individual’s point of view.

From 1987 and featuring Dudley Moore, Kirk Cameron, “Like Father, Like Son”. A cardiovascular surgeon accidentally sprinkles an old Indian concoction into his Bloody Mary and presto, he and his laid-back son have traded identities. Cast includes Dudley Moore, Kirk Cameron, Margaret Colin, Catherine Hicks, Patrick O’Neal, and Sean Astin.

The dad is so engrossed in his work that he has no interest or tolerance for his teenage son’s tribulations with school and his social life. The swap of identities leads to astonishing difficulties at work and at school but also an insight into the lives and troubles of the other.

In a parallel plot the motion picture “Freaky Friday” from 2003 has Jamie Lee Curtis playing a mom who swaps places with Lindsay Lohan who plays her 15 years old daughter. The mom wants more support for her approaching wedding to her fianc and the daughter wants her mom to support her musical aspirations with her rock band.

A fortune cookie on a Thursday evening brings about a Friday where they substitute identities and learn to have concern for the other. But they have to find a way to change back before the wedding ceremony on Saturday. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan as mother and daughter and Mark Harmon as the mom’s fianc.

And lastly, a different kind of identity swap movie, “Mrs. Doubtfire” is a cheerful and gratifying comedy about a free spirited husband and father, who gets a separation after fourteen years. Since he can’t bear the notion of being away from his family he camouflages himself as a old-fashioned British housekeeper and gets hired as the kid’s nanny.

Robin Williams stars as the dad and of course, Mrs. Doubtfire, Sally Fields is the mom and Lisa Jakob, Matthew Lawrence and Mara Wilson play the children. Mrs. Doubtfire is a magnificent family movie from 1993 that should not be missed.
